JOHN MCLEAN

NONPROFIT PRACTICE DIRECTOR & CO-FOUNDER

John has lived and breathed Salesforce CRM since 2010. He goes to bed at night dreaming of data models, impact measurement, and process automation. Then he wakes up and applies his great mind to transforming our clients’ processes and goals into realities.

John leads LavaBox’s nonprofit squad, a specialist team doing amazing work in the nonprofit community all day, every day.

John is a certified Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud Consultant, Salesforce Sales Cloud Consultant, Salesforce Service Cloud Consultant, Salesforce Administrator, Salesforce Platform App Builder and Salesforce Field Service Lightning Consultant.

Before falling in love with Salesforce, John studied psychology and media at the University of Auckland, earning a Bachelor of Arts and a Postgraduate Diploma of Arts with a focus on Business Psychology and a Graduate Diploma of Business with a focus on advertising at AUT.

Never one to take the conventional route, John began his first business, U-Turn Internet, straight out of university. From there, he teamed up with his best friend and LavaBox co-founder, Justin Lanigan, on their first venture, 123 Online.

Over eight years, 123 Online delivered over 2,000 websites and digital marketing projects for small businesses. Achieving that kind of project volume required exceptional sales, marketing, service delivery, support, and accounts processes. John built the entire business system on a single platform - Salesforce.

John’s business background, rather than a purely software-focused perspective, enables him to quickly analyze clients’ operating models, processes, identify pain points and bottlenecks, and apply LavaBox’s impact framework to understand his clients’ needs holistically.

He’s also the proud dad of two intense boys, who keep him on his toes. When he's not at work, John talks about Salesforce to his wife, Jill. She doesn't get it.
